Common issues and the fastest fixes.

Notes not saving

Tala uses autosave with debounce. If notes aren't saving:

  1. 01Check the saved indicator in the editor toolbar
  2. 02Try Ctrl+S to force save
  3. 03Ensure your browser supports IndexedDB

Theme flashing on load

The theme is applied by an inline script before React renders. If you see a flash:

  1. 01Clear localStorage and reload
  2. 02Ensure JavaScript is enabled

Desktop app won't launch

On Linux, ensure the following system libraries are installed:

Pen strokes not appearing

Turn drawing on for the open note with the Draw control in the header, or press Ctrl + .. On touch screens, check the "finger draws or scrolls" setting in the Draw popover.
